Celebrating Mother’s Day – What My Mother Taught Me About Organizing

Celebrating Mother’s Day, for me, is an opportunity to reflect on the invaluable lessons my Mother imparted while living “under her roof”, especially home organizing habits. Here are some you might be able to relate to:

  1. Declutter: Make your bed everyday. That’s the first basic step to organizing your bedroom.
  2. Maintain Cleanliness: Wash your face and brush your teeth before bed and brush your hair every morning before you go outside.
  3. Plan, Prioritize and Set Routines: Pack school bags, set your alarm clock before you go to bed to wake up on time for school, summer camp, or family day at the beach. From morning routines to bedtime rituals, Mothers teach us the importance of structure and consistency.
  4. Organize Belongings: Whether it’s arranging toys in bins, organizing school supplies, or sorting clothes in closets. Mothers teach us the benefits of having a designated place for everything.
  5. Lead by Example: Perhaps most importantly, Mothers lead by example. They demonstrate the organizing habits they preach by maintaining their own spaces, managing household tasks, and handling responsibilities with grace and efficiency.

As we celebrate this Mother’s Day, let’s acknowledge and appreciate the important lessons our Mothers imparted to us and honor the wisdom and guidance of Mothers everywhere.
